Vilnius campaign

Vilnius campaign

The Vilnius Campaign will conduct an intensive indoor-outdoor air pollution measurement campaign to investigate how outdoor pollution from vehicular fleets influences Indoor Air Quality (IAQ). Aerosol particle measurements will be conducted in schools located downtown with high pollution levels. Multiple state-of-the-art aerosol measurement instruments and low-cost sensors will be deployed to evaluate aerosol particle number size distribution, ultrafine particle number, and black carbon mass concentrations. Source apportionment and size-resolved investigation of children's exposure to aerosol particles will also be carried out. To assess schoolchildren's exposure to outdoor/indoor air pollution, they will wear low-cost sensors to log their exposure to PM2.5 at 5-minute intervals throughout the school hours. Additionally, levels of microplastics will be evaluated from offline collected air samples.

Participating Partners
  • Center for Physical Sciences and Technology
  • Lab Service Analytica srl
  • Wings ICT Solutions Information & Communication Technologiesike
  • Leibniz-Institut für Troposphärenforschung e.V
  • Thinnect OÜ
Long-term Objectives
  • To obtain information on diurnal and seasonal variation of schoolchildren’s exposure to aerosol particles, black carbon, and microplastic.
  • To create evidence on how high outdoor pollution (from primary vehicular emissions) affects IAQ in schools located in highly polluted environments.
