Indoor Air Quality: Always a Bridesmaid, Never a Bride

Description

The webinar introduces the EDIAQI project, setting the stage for discussion on the significance of filling knowledge gaps in Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) for both public health purposes and the elimination of all pollution by 2050.

In the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic, the issue of addressing indoor air pollution has come into sharp relief as Europe and beyond faced increased health risks from pollutants within the confines of homes and workplaces. Despite its implications for public health, IAQ remains an enigmatic aspect of the environment, with many facets still unexplored due to a historical regulatory focus on outdoor settings and the challenges in measuring IAQ and correlating it with human health.

The webinar aims to unravel the complexities of IAQ, explore the interplay between indoor and outdoor air, and highlight the critical role of data in shaping healthier living spaces. By discussing potential health effects ranging from immediate symptoms to chronic conditions, and the EU policy landscape, the webinar will explore the urgent need to fill the knowledge gaps on IAQ and to mainstream the issue as a concern that European citizens should be aware of—one that the EDIAQI project seeks to address.
