Training Session on data interoperability: modelling data about “buildings” (CityGML standard)

On Friday 27th of October 2023, the fourth (and final) training session on data interoperabilty for sensors was held by the Deda Next team, titled "modelling data about “buildings” (CityGML standard)".

 The agenda included:

  • Welcome and brief recap of previous webinars and intro
  • Intro to CityGML standard
  • Software for CityGML
  • 3DCityDb implementation and software
  • Conclusions and final webinar (October)

The CityGML standard defines a conceptual model and exchange format for the representation, storage and exchange of virtual 3D city models. It facilitates the integration of urban geodata for a variety of applications for Smart Cities and Urban Digital Twins.

During the webinar, introduction to CityGML and practical information about software and tools have been provided by Dr. Giorgio Agugiaro (TU Delft) to stimulate EDIAQI partners about approaches for modelling pilot buildings in an harmonized and standard way, collect their properties and link external references to dynamic data (via SensorThings API).
